Why Buy a Wireless Burglar Alarm?

Did you know that a recent report suggests that the average burglar spends less than five minutes inside a property and the average cost to the homeowner after this unwelcome visitor has left is around $3000!  In today’s world of ever increasing crime figures, more people than ever before are looking for good, inexpensive ways to secure their home against intruders. There are many systems on the market today, all with their own benefits. However, the best, easiest to install home protection system for the DIY enthusiast, is the wireless burglar alarm.

Most of the wireless burglar alarm systems can be installed in less than a day with minimum disruption to your household and with only a couple of simple tools. If you are thinking that a wireless burglar alarm system is prohibitively expensive, you would be wrong! Most systems that would fully alarm the average sized house are very reasonably priced. Do your research before buying to find the best system to protect your property.

With a typical wireless burglar alarm you would get a system that will connect to your phone line and will contact a designated number if the alarm is triggered. The system will automatically redial any unanswered calls. You will be provided with wireless PIR (passive infra red) sensors, that senses any movement within the area and will trigger the alarm to sound. Also, magnetic door or window contact detectors, that when fitted to windows or doors, will trigger the alarm to sound if the contact is broken i.e. window or door is opened. Your system will probably come with a remote key fob which will allow you to arm or disarm your wireless burglar alarm system. The remote key fob is usually fitted with a panic button as well.  Your alarm would be useless without the all important external siren, preferably with an LED strobe to attract attention. When placing your external siren box, be sure to place it well out of reach of an intruder and in plain view of the neighborhood.

If a burglar is cruising round your area seeking some easy pickings, he will most likely avoid a property with an obvious alarm system installed and move on to a home where he can enter without fear of a high decibel siren sounding all over the street.

So make sure your family, your home and property are protected with a wireless burglar alarm system.

A Guide to Wireless Burglar Alarms

An average of 1,500 burglaries occur every day in Britain. The case for installing a burglar alarm hardly needs making – particularly when you consider the difference that alarms can make. Less than 1% of break-ins occur in homes with effective alarm systems. The days when the price or inconvenience of installing an alarm might put property owners off have been and gone. With the coming of age of wireless alarm technology, there has never been a more practical and cost-effective way of keeping burglars where you want them – off your premises.

Wireless burglar alarms operate differently from their hard-wired counterparts in that the component parts (control panel, sensors and alarm) communicate via a transmitted radio signal, rather than electrical connections across the whole system. But beside this fundamental difference, the actual method for detecting intrusion remains the same.

In the majority of cases, this is based on motion detection using Passive Infrared technology (which works
